Over the last few weeks, the talks have become massive, especially on twitter, with the academy announcing that it has opened its shores for nominations and Yemi Alade announcing that she just submitted her album for "Best World Album category.
Grammy is about the world’s biggest platform academy for entertainers to get noticed. Generally, it has been a fantastic year for music in Nigeria as the industry has turned out unbelievably with lots of artiste making waves in a short while. The afrobeat style of music has made this possible as most of the top-rated Nigerian musicians have prospered in this line. Nigerian artistes have also featured lots of foreign music figures, and this has broadened the horizon of their songs and made them accepted globally.
Until recently, the Grammy has been allegedly racial, as they only had whites as nominees and award winners. More so, some people raved that the entertainment platform also allowed the male folks as women claimed they did not get sufficient recognition. Nonetheless, the academy has been able to carry every deserving person along, male or female.
Notable Nigerians have been nominated in the world category at the Grammys. These include the likes of Seun and Femi Kuti for Best World Music Albums. This has raised the hopes of other artistes like Davido, Wizkid, Burna Boy, Tiwa Savage, and the rest of them as they lunged into the academy showcasing their talents. Several of them have been successful in this quest, and Wizkid and Burna are no different.
There are several notions that either of them stood a chance of winning the Grammy this year as both of them are bent on winning the prize.
Burna Boy is the recent Nigerian ‘favorite.' His music experienced a significant breakthrough last year, even though he has been in the industry for almost ten years. Since then, he has fired on, as he proceeded to release an album. He has also been seen running interviews together with the Grammy team for promotional purposes. So he may be an excellent pick for the Grammy awards.
Wizkid, on the other hand, also might stand a good chance as the year has been marvelous to him with the release of his hit song 'Brown Skin Girl' that rocked and is still rocking the entertainment industry. Wizkid might be on the walk down the aisle of receiving his award at the Grammys.
Beyonce, who surprisingly featured about five top Nigerian artiste – Mr. Eazi, Tekno, Wizkid, Yemi Alade, Burna Boy, and gave a headway why she said she featured them, because she has discovered undiluted expertise in Africa and intended to work with only the best.
